According to CTRC, by 2020, China will build a strong smart power grid with the uhv synchronous power grid in north, east and central China as the center, the uhv power grid in northeast China and the 750-kilovolt power grid in northwest China as the terminal, connecting all major coal power bases, large hydropower bases, large nuclear power bases and large renewable energy bases, and the coordinated development of power grids at all levels. The "five vertical and six horizontal" main grids are formed in the uhv synchronous grid of north, east and central China.
As an important transmission grid, the northwest power grid during the 12th five-year plan period will, on the basis of the existing 750-kilovolt power grid structure, strengthen inter-provincial links, improve the power grid exchange capacity and the ability to withstand serious faults, and ensure the access and consumption of renewable energy such as wind power. Realize and north China, east China, central China uhv grid closely linked.
During the 12th five-year plan period, China southern power grid will focus on the construction of large power stations, such as nuozhadu and xiluodu, to deliver direct current. In 2015, on the basis of the "five-direct eighth crossing" in 2010, the transmission channel of "nine-direct eighth crossing" was formed for the transmission of west power east main network frame. The provinces (regions) formed a strong 500 kv backbone network frame, and realized the double-circuit network of hainan and south main network of 500 kv, and strengthened the network with Hong Kong, Macao and special regions to ensure the reliable supply of electricity to Hong Kong and Macao.
In addition, by 2015, the reliability rate of power supply for urban users will reach 99.943% and 99.765% for rural users. In 2020, the power supply reliability rate of urban users will reach over 99.955%, and that of rural users will reach over 99.810%.
According to the relevant person in charge of CTRC, the intelligent development of China's power grid will be based on the strong grid frame, supported by the communication information platform and by the means of intelligent regulation, including six links of power generation, transmission, power transformation, distribution, power consumption and dispatching, covering all voltage levels. By the end of the 12th five-year plan period, China will have achieved major breakthroughs in smart grid technology and key equipment, basically improved standards for smart power grids, and achieved a high level of smart power grids.
